Welcome to InSight Clinical Psychology

Emotional wellbeing support for neurodivergent children and adolescents

At InSight, we are committed to supporting the emotional wellbeing of neurodivergent children and adolescents. We are dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to meet the unique needs of each child and their family. InSight Clinical Psychology was born out of a passion for nurturing difference and helping neurodivergent children navigate the complexities of growing up with hidden differences.

When you have a child with more hidden needs, it can be difficult to get these needs recognised and to get the support you need for your child and for your family. We believe every child has the potential to thrive with the right support and environment. Whether you are seeking help for your child or looking for support as parents, we are here to help.

Psychological therapy and support

We take a collaborative approach in our therapeutic support. We will discuss with you what support you feel you need and will come up with a plan together. We use evidence-based therapeutic techniques that we know can be effective with Autistic and ADHD children & young people. Our approach is compassionate, non-judgmental, and always focused on the needs of the young people and their families. We believe that everyone has the potential for growth, and we are here to help you achieve your goals as a family.

For some families, they are not in a position to access private psychological services for their family. We offer webinars and workshops at an affordable rate, which give valuable advice and insight into a range of issues faced by neurodivergent children and adolescents.

TESTIMONIALS

What Our Clients Say

Parent of 12 year old

"We are so pleased to have found Emma after looking for over a year for the right support for J (our child), who has been diagnosed with Autism and ADHD with a PDA profile.

J has a lot of anxiety, but since starting their sessions with Emma, J has been progressing well each week, with Emma able to give support and strategies that are helping J so much in their daily life.

Finding someone who understands J’s neurodivergence so well and the best way to support them has been really hard, we are so glad we have finally found Emma.

With PDA it can be difficult to get J out of the house sometimes, but the one thing J won’t miss are their sessions with Emma, and J actively looks forward to them"

Mother of 7 year old boy

"Our work with Emma has had a real positive impact on our family. Her specialist expertise in neurodivergence and extensive child psychology experience was exactly the right fit when looking for help for our 7 year old son with anxiety and suspected neurodivergence.

I have seen a change in our son after relatively few sessions,  and as parents we have gone from feeling rather worried and lost, to now feeling equipped and hopeful for our son’s future.

Emma helped us to understand the relation between our son's neurodivergent traits and his anxiety. She shared many insights, strategies and resources to enable us to support our son’s emotional and sensory needs.

Emma also fully engaged our son in one-to-one sessions on emotional self-awareness and regulation, adapted to his understanding. She made the sessions fun and used sensory tools to help him focus - he really enjoyed working with Emma!"

J, 12 years old

"Emma is amazing, I’m so glad we’ve finally found her - she is really awesome and has helped me loads"

Parent of 11 year old

"I approached Dr Turl for some help and guidance during a very difficult time our family was experiencing.

Dr Turl was able to guide our family with a much positive approach on how to communicate with each other and to relieve and cope with stressful situations.

The results were outstanding and I would very much like to thank Dr Turl for her support and ability to show us techniques in a very unique way.

I found the whole experience very therapeutic and we feel because of Dr Turl’s help we have come through this journey with a positive outlook and have grown stronger as a family.

I would highly recommend Dr Turl."

A note on terminology...

At InSight, we try to keep up to date with the current thinking and evidence-base. We are in a rapid period of growth in understanding how our brains work and the amazing differences in this. Terminology changes quickly and is now, gladly, being led by people with lived experience. We have decided to use the term "neurodivergence" as a way of encapsulating the many and varied types of "difference" that we work with. We are always open to feedback and may sometimes get it wrong. We always value a conversation and are always learning!
